Pintag
The parish of San Jerónimo de Pintag takes its name in honor of the cacique and national hero, General Píntag, known as the first “Ecuadorian guerrilla fighter who fought against the invaders of the Inca, especially the attacks of Huayna Cápac, chose this area as the base of resistance, when he was captured in the land that is now Píntag, they could not subdue him and he preferred to die of thirst and hunger. As a human settlement, it has existed since the 16th century as part of the Quito territories.

Historical data indicates that the Pintag Chief died between the years of 1520-1525, according to his people, it will be what constitutes the first Pintag settlement in the paramos area. The eruptions of the Antisana volcano would have become one of the main factors for the population to move from Paspana, to the site that is currently the parish seat of Pintag.

PINTAG is located to the south-east of the province of Pichincha, in the Metropolitan District of Quito, located to the south east of the Capital, about 35 kilometers from it, near the Valle de los Chillos, it limits to the north with the parishes of Tumbaco, La Merced, Alangasí and Pifo, to the south with the Mejía canton, to the east with the Napo Province and to the west with Mejía and Rumiñahui has a population of 17,930 inhabitants, according to the last national census carried out in 2010; and a population growth rate of 2.4%. The PINTAG parish has an approximate extension of 490.14 km², within which 38 neighborhoods and 6 communes are located.

If you go in your own car, you must travel 30 km from El Trébol. The track is in an acceptable state. The trip can also be done by bus. The units of the Píntag and Expreso Andina cooperatives offer this service, every day.
